The Circle of Fifths Explained

Knowing the circle of fifths as a guitarist is the first step in learning theory and greatly increases your ability to understand harmony and chords. On guitar it helps unlocks music theory, helping you understand key signatures, build strong chord progressions (like I-IV-V), find relative minors, transpose songs, and navigate the fretboard by visualizing note relationships, making improvisation and song writing much more intuitive and powerful. It acts as a roadmap for harmony, revealing how keys and chords relate, which is invaluable for analysis and creation, even beyond basic patterns.

Here is a guide on how to use it.
