Tricky little 80’s classic from top session bands amazing album ‘Songs From The Big Chair’ – Tears For Fears. Roland Orzabal the main guitarist played most of this, however some is keyboard that we have transcribed for guitar. The intro section is well known and takes a bit of practice considering its basic form. Give it a listen if you’re not familiar.
Playing Notes –
This is the shape to how we play most of the first 2 parts.
Sometimes finger picking is an easier solution for the solo.
Part one is played on the beat but getting progressively louder, so start off with palm muting using your picking hand and slowly decrease this until it rings.
Part Two is using the chord shape shown in the picture above, but split the chord up.
Part 3 A – use one finger (or two together) to slide backwards and forwards on this section.
B – Quite fast, each one is a beat
C – Use the chord shape as before and split it in two.
Back to the intro then verse then chorus twice then ends on verse.
