Rolling Stones - Start Me Up Tabbed For Guitar
TUNING WARNING – On this track we have tuned the A string down to a G note – use either your open G string or 3rd fret of the low E string to give you a reference G note. This isn’t altogether necessary, so if you decide not to tune down just miss out playing the A string altogether.
This classic Stone rock song is all about the timing and what strings to use. On the initial part of the intro, played around the 5th fret we start by using an up stroke (the rest is alternated between down & up strokes) to encourage us to play the High E string, B, G & D strings more. The second section played around the 3rd fret we play with down-strokes and just attack the A (tuned to G) and D strings – if you hit the others its not a problem.
