How to start improvising in jazz guitar.

This exercise is based around a jazz scale in the key of C. This scale can be mixed with a C minor pentatonic to spice up your rock playing in a jazzy way. Notice the same shape can be moved to the E string. Try improvising between this and a minor pentatonic in C minor. Raising the minor third to the major (D# to an E) adds some great jazz tension. Again add this to your pentatonic playing.
