Warning Fake Gumtree Emails

Gumtree has announced that there has been an issue recently with people receiving emails from what appears to be the company Gumtree but are in fact fake emails that will redirect people to a ‘phishing’ website.

The emails look genuine and once you have clicked the link, you are taken to a website that looks like Gumtree where you are asked to enter your login details.

Should you receive any of these emails and click the link, please make sure that the website address that appears in your web browser bar is https://my.gumtree.com/login and that no other words appear in the address bar. You can also detect if the site is genuine as you will see the ‘padlock’ symbol appear in the browser address bar when you are on the login page.
