Eddie Van Halen Dies

RIP ‘The greatest, most creative and innovative guitarist ever’ as voted in our guitar teachers poll from 2 years ago. Simon Devlin from My Guitar Lessons said this about Eddie Van Halen –  “This man changed my life. After I heard Van halen 1 and particularly the track Eruption the greatest 1:43 minutes of music I have ever heard, I was totally blown away and in awe of his guitar genius. I went out with my paper round money at 14 years of age and brought a Kramer  guitar – similar to Eddie’s Frankenstein guitar to try and sound like him, but had many years of learning ahead to even get his basic techniques licked.

Then there is the album ‘Fair Warning’, possibly the greatest guitar album ever. And there was total astonishing playing on everything he did with Dave Lee Roth at the helm, doing the singing. Eddie was raw, loud and had a jaw dropping genius. We have our Vai’s and Malmsteens but for me no one touched Eddie Van Halen on guitar. RIP Eddie you will forever rule in my guitar heaven.”
