Guitarist Jeff Back Dies.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of the genius guitarist Jeff Beck. At My Guitar Lessons we rate him as one of the best to don a guitar ever. From his early days with the Yardbirds, through to his supergroup featuring Rod Stewart on vocals and Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) on bass, thrn on to his incredible solo career.

Our Jeff Beck guitar highlights:

Beck-ola & Truth, without these albums there’d be no Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page. Total masterclass of blues rock. Many say these albums shaped heavy metal. We love Tracks like Shape of Things.

Jeff live at Ronnie Scotts. It starts off taking your breath away, making you stare in amazement at your screen thinking ‘How does he do that?’ and then it just keeps getting better. And no pressure for Jeff – in the audience there’s none other than Eric Clapton, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Wait for the unsurpassed final track ‘Where Were You?’ a masterclass on how to from your soul using just harmonics. Nothing touches it.

More recently the album ‘Loud Hailer’, which we are currently playing at full volume in the My Guitar Lessons office shows Jeff Beck could still mix his incredible talent with modern day hip hop and give it so much soul. Scared For The Children has just come on – its up there with Little Wing and Angel – WOW!

Jeff was born back in 1944 in Surrey, England. Having other guitar greats growing up nearby like Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page really made Jeff have to raise the bar and he certainly did that. Jeff was much more ‘out there’ than Eric or Jimmy. And talking Jimi, Hendrix was always asking Jeff for tips and tricks, which certainly came through on Jimi’s playing.

Jeff, you were as good as it gets and all in the guitar community will miss you so much. A true genius.

RIP Jeff Beck.
