Professor Says Musicians Will Have A Higher Value Once Corona Has Disappeared
We spoke to Professor of Bass Guitar & Lecturer of Music Solent University in Southampton about what the outcome of life after COVID-19 will have on a musicians and music teachers. The answer was VERY positive indeed. Read his comments here;
‘Whilst there will be a monumental lull, this will be temporary. One thing that will come out of this is a higher value placed on entertainment, in all guises: Weeks-and-weeks ‘locked away’ will see the general public wanting to socialise, wanting to sing, dance and celebrate. Musicians and other creative workers will be at the forefront, and I hope that a greater value will be placed on all creative arts in the future. In my opinion, over the past two decades particularly, well-trained and competent musicians have suffered from a downward spiral in ‘perceived value’. If this trend is reversed, then at least one positive can come out of this horrendous situation. Yes, venues and artists will struggle, but if they can hang-on and somehow innovate to ‘ride the storm’, I sense that there will be widespread positive changes on the horizon’.
