Cottingham Music Festival 2018
We are delighted to send you this Syllabus for the forthcoming Cottingham Methodist Church Music Festival 2018, (CMCMF) now in its 41st year. As you will see, there is a wide range of classes for instrumental and vocal entries for all ages and levels. This year we are introducing the new Classes 560 -562 for Guitar and other plucked string instruments and other minor changes.
At CMCMF, we are proud of our reputation for the friendly atmosphere of our Festivals, where everything is done to encourage participants to achieve their best performance and to enjoy the experience. The venue is pleasant and comfortable, with refreshments available on Saturdays.
Festivals give participants opportunity to compete against others of similar age and grade and to receive a positive adjudication and mark for their performance. In a small venue in front of a small audience, mainly parents and families, they can build confidence in themselves and of course their teacher’s reputation is enhanced when the outcome is good. The top three in any class receive certificates and many classes have a trophy retained for one year for the winner. Most classes are held in the main Methodist Church although a few may take place in other nearby church venues.
The festival’s reputation can be measured by the fact that over 450 entries are made each year, many participants and teachers returning year on year for the experience we provide.
We hope you will consider putting some of your pupils into one or more classes for next January.
