The legendary Strawberry Studios

When I was 19 I was asked to do a session for the BBC at the legendary Strawberry Studios in Stockport, the home of 10cc. So I turned up with my trusty Fender Pro Reverb Amp, my 1962 Fender Strat and my Yamaha FG 180 Accoustic. Then in walked Mike MGeer (Paul McCartneys brother) and the other two members of The Scaffold, a very successful 60s pop band.

After meeting us and shaking hands, he proceeded to walk up to each of us in tern offering us small pieces of fruit from a saucer , pointing to the fruit and saying, “are you sure”, we all politely declined his offer, not being sure if the fruit contained any 60s additives and wanting our session fees.

After recording a version of their biggest hit, “Lilly The Pink”,  We left the session being over.  To my great surprise it was broadcast as a backing track on the next Saurday morning on Noel Edmonds Swap Shop. Good job I didn’t eat any of his fruit.
