Jimmy Page How I Came Up With ‘Kashmir’ Riff

Jimmy picked up his six-string and went on to explain: “It originated from playing around with this tuning I’ve been using quite a bit – DADGAD. “It’s like a sitar tuning. It was this song I had called ‘Swan Song.’ It was all these intricate guitar parts and right at the end of it I had this thing like this plays guitar, and then the tape ends.  “We were doing rehearsals, John Bonham was there and I said, ‘I got this riff,’ and he laid on the rhythm.

“We got this riff that goes around and this sort of cascade that goes over the top and hits this atonal point. “It’s cool.”  The explanation involves some tasty jamming of the three esteemed gents, make sure to check it out below.
