Ibanez Launch Heavy Range With 7 & 8 String Model For Drop Tuning.
The popularity of the Ibanez fanned fret basses has exceeded all of their expectations, but why should just the bassists have all the fun? Not wanting guitar players to miss out on the FF experience, they have just released two Iron Label “made-for-metal” electrics: a 7 and an 8-string that are both creating quite a buzz.
With a dramatic Black Stained finish and EMG® pickups, these exciting new fanned fret electrics are perfect for down-tuned metal.
In this video, Ibanez artist Robby Baca of The Contortionist checks out the new Ibanez Iron Label RGIF7, the first-ever fanned fret guitar in the Ibanez electric guitar lineup. Also shown is the RGIF8, the 8-string version. Robby explains some of the benefits of having fanned frets and peforms an excerpt from The Contortionist song, “Primordial Sound”, a track from 2014’s “Language”.
The Contortionist, a progressive metal band hailing from Indianapolis, ID, have been taking the genre by storm since the release of their first LP, 2010’s “Exoplanet”. Since then, they have toured the world, sharing the stage with bands such as Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Between the Buried and Me, Devin Townsend Project and many more. They have released 2 more albums, 2012’s “Intrinsic” and 2014’s “Language”.
