Yes Bass Guitar Player Dies

Chris Squire, the bass guitarist and prime member of 1970s British dynamic rock band Yes, has passed away at 67 years old, his bandmates have said. Current Yes keyboardist Geoff Downes tweeted: “Totally crushed by the news of the death of my dear companion, bandmate and motivator Chris Squire.”

Squire had uncovered he was experiencing an uncommon type of leukemia. The band said he died “peacefully” in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday night.

“It’s with the heaviest of hearts and agonizing bitterness that we must tell you of the death of our dear companion and Yes fellow benefactor, Chris Squire,” an announcement on the band’s official Facebook page said.
