Top Classical Guitarist Teaches A Masterclass

David Russell is one of the giants of the classical guitar today. His beautifully polished and refined playing have made him a hero to guitarists and audiences the world over. His many recordings for Telarc have met with tremendous acclaim and numerous awards including a Grammy. David is highly sought after and tours the world continuously, this is a rare chance to see the world’s foremost classical guitarist in concert.

Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist David Russell is world renowned for his superb musicianship and inspired artistry, having earned the highest praise from audiences and critics alike. In recognition of his great talent and his international career, he was named a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Music in London in 1997. David Russell spends his time touring the world, appearing regularly at prestigious concert halls in cities including New York, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Madrid, Toronto and Rome.

Recently opened to great acclaim, Milton Court Concert Hall is an exciting addition to the venue hire opportunities at the Barbican. Part of a £90million development for the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the hall boasts a maximum seat capacity of 608, world-class acoustic design and state-of-the-art technical capability, and is supported by a knowledgeable technical and events team.

David Russell will also be running a masterclass on 1 February at 10am in the Lecture Recital Room, Guildhall School Silk Street Building, Ground floor. This is a unique opportunity to have a one-on-one half an hour lesson with the guitar guru himself.

The masterclass will be a three hour session limited to six players. Each player will get half an hour to discuss and play guitar with David Russell in front of the rest of the group.

Players should be at intermediate level.

If you wish to attend the class as an observer there are also observer tickets available.
