Oasis and The Smiths Guitarists Play Live Together.

Guitarist Noel Gallagher joined guitar player Johnny Marr on stage for an epic collaboration at London’s Brixton Academy. Rumours of the former Oasis giant joining the Smiths legend on stage at his headlining gig in the capital started circulating earlier this week, before Marr would coyly deny them in an interview.

However, after an already incredible set, Marr returned for an encore to welcome Gallagher to the stage. Introducing him as an “old friend” who he’d known for 20 years and one of the “greatest songwriters” of our time with a promising future, Gallagher silently swaggered on stage to a rapturous applause.

The pair then ended the show with a cover of Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life” and a magnificent rendition of the Smiths’ classic “How Soon Is Now.” Speculation now turns as to whether Gallagher will appear at any more dates – at their hometown of Manchester in particular.
