Guitarist Ronnie Wood to Display His Art in Cumbria
For two weeks, Treeby and Bolton in Keswick will be hosting an exhibition of work by the Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
The veteran rocker has been painting and drawing for 35 years and is now set to put pieces from his Raw Instinct collection on display.
The collection is set to feature an eclectic mixture of portraits of stars including bandmates Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Keith Richards, as well as paintings of handwritten song lyrics and landscapes.
The pieces are said to give an insight into the world of Ronnie Wood. “There is no kind of therapy like the one you have from starting and seeing a picture through to the end,” he said.
“In a secret sort of way, I like the people that I draw to see the way I’ve depicted them. Unlike music, it’s a solo effort. There’s no one else to blame.”
Wood was born into an artistic family in 1947 and received formal art training at Ealing College of Art.
Libbie Graham, Treeby and Bolton’s gallery manager, added: “Ronnie’s art background shines throughout his work. It’s great news that we can share his work with people on their doorstep.”
Ronnie Wood’s collection will be on display at Treeby and Bolton from Saturday, September 27 until Saturday October 11.
Limited edition prints will be available to buy.
Entry to the exhibition is free. For more information call 017687 72443 or visit www.treebybolton.co.uk
