“Boston” Guitarist Helps Needy Topekans

Classic rock guitarist Gary Pihl is stepping off stage and stepping in to a food pantry in Topeka for a good cause.

Rock Star Gary Pihl from the band “Boston” and “December People” is stepping off stage and helping those in need in Topeka.

“I’m very fortunate to be able to do what I want to do in my life so it’s a chance for me to help some folks that need some help,” said Pihl.

Pihl stopped by Wal- Mart on Wanamaker and the Let’s Help non-profit organization to promote his band’s holiday food drive at his upcoming concert. He says he hopes all the concert goers bring food donations to help those in need.

“I’m from the era that I know the music from this group, so to me it is incredibly powerful that people with such success are willing to give back to other communities,” said Miriam Krehbiel from United Way of Greater Topeka.

“This is so awesome! It is a wonderful opportunity when you’ve got someone like Gary, it’s fantastic,” said Shelly Lowery from Let’s Help.

Pihl says its more than a feeling to give back.

“I tell ya I get choked up talking about it because it does mean so much to all of us in the band to help give back to the community,” said Pihl.

December People is a band compromised of rock superstars, including Robert Berry of the Sammy Hagar and Greg Kihn Bands, Dave Meed of The Tubes, Mike Vanderhule of Y & T and Jack Foster, international artist.

The “December People” concert is at TPAC on November 22nd.
