Shane Gibson, a guitarist who toured with Korn from 2007 to 2010, has passed away at the age of 35.
It has been confirmed that the musician, who also played in his own band Stork, died last Tuesday from complications due to a blood clotting disorder. Gibson filled in for Korn’s Brian ‘Head’ Welch for their late 2000s touring commitments, and has since contributed to Korn frontman Jonathan Davis’ solo album.
A statement from Gibson’s Stork bandmates, as reported by Planet Mosh, confirmed the news.
It reads: “It is with deepest sadness and regret that we must confirm that St0rk founding member and lead guitarist Shane Paul Gibson passed away at 5:45am on April 15th, 2014 in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama as a result of complications from a blood clotting disorder. He was 35 years old.”
“Shane was one of the best guitar players the world has ever known, and his virtuosity was matched only by his wit and generosity of spirit. He will be missed beyond measure.”
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all those who loved him as much as we did.”
