One of the prog icons Genesis’ driving forces, drummer and later frontman Phil Collins, revealed a possibility for band reunion to happen in the future, as well as his solo return to the music scene.
Chatting with Bild am Sonntag, Collins commented (via the Guardian): “I have started thinking about doing new stuff. [Maybe playing] some shows again, even with Genesis. Everything is possible. We could tour in Australia and South America. We haven’t been there yet.”
Collins made his last live performance in 2010 and hasn’t hit the stage with Genesis since 2007. As previously reported, major spine damage was the main culprit behind his forced leave. “I was going to stop drumming anyway,” he told Rolling Stone magazine in 2010, just to add that he doesn’t miss it, as well as having suicidal thoughts following his third divorce.
But things seem to have taken a turn for the better, as even Collins’ family is now far more optimistic. “[My father is] doing really well,” Phil’s son Simon, Sound of Contact frontman, told Smashing Interviews. “He’s starting to write again actually and spending more time with family, myself included.”
