Ozzy Thought He’d Lose His Family
Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne thought he was going to lose his family when he finally admitted he was back on drugs earlier this year.
He apologised to friends and fans in April after revealing he’d started using again 18 months previously. That led to rumours that he and wife Sharon had split up, which were played down at the time.
But now Ozzy tells NME: “She was very pissed off. I thought I was going to lose my family at one point.
“She said, ‘Look, I’ve got my own thing going on and I can’t deal with you any more. Get the fuck out. Sort yourself out – then we’ll talk.’
“I don’t blame her in the slightest.”
But he says there was “no reason at all” behind his fall off the wagon. “You’ll suddenly think, ‘I fancy a drink,’ and your head will say, ‘Let yourself have one.’ Next thing you know you’re scraping yourself off the garage floor three days later.
“It’s a disease of the mind and body, and you can’t control it.”
Ozzy’s bandmates recently revealed they had no idea he was back on drugs. Guitarist Tony Iommi recently told Classic Rock: “I didn’t see any signs of it – he was turning up to my house on time and we were rehearsing and writing, and I never saw anything.
“I’ve known him for 50 years, so I should know him, but God, I never sussed that at all.”
