Rod Stewart insists a Faces reunion is now more likely than it’s ever been – and he expects it to happen in 2015.
The long-awaited gathering has been under discussion for years, with Ronnie Wood – currently back in action with the Rolling Stones – having reported he and Stewart had written new music six years ago. The band last gathered for a rehearsal in 2009, but nothing came of it. In 2010 and 2011 Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall fronted the Faces for a number of shows.
Now Stewart tells WZLX in Boston: “I think we’ve got much more of a chance of getting the Faces back together, in fact.
“Ronnie’s office is talking to my people and we’re earmarking 2015.”
In September the vocalist claimed he’d been hoping for a double-header tour featuring Jeff Beck and the Faces, but it couldn’t happen because he’d fallen out with the guitarist. He also said the Stones would have to be finished before Wood became available.
Mick Jagger’s and co. are in the process of announcing a string of live dates for 2014 including Australia, New Zealand, Japan and China.
