Way Thanks Fans for Cancer Support

Former UFO bassist Pete Way has thanked fans for their support after revealing he’d been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

And he admits he was moved to tears when he discovered how much goodwill people felt towards him.

Last week 62-year-old told Classic Rock he was feeling “good, positive and determined to beat it,” adding: “I’m lucky – this is prostate cancer, not lung cancer, not pancreatic cancer. If you’re going to get cancer this is the best one you can have. And they caught it early.”

He also told how the tumour was discovered by accident as doctors continued to treat him for liver disease, caused by years of hard living.

Now Way says via Facebook: “Thanks everyone for your amazing support. I am absolutely knocked out by your kind words, best wishes and prayers for recovery – and no longer feel I am fighting this thing on my own.

“I’m not the sort of man who cries but I must admit to shedding a tear when I read your kind words.

‘I am truly blessed to have such great fans and I appreciate each and every one of you. Can’t wait to kick this and get back on the road to support the new album. Love ya.”

Way recently completed work on the record Walking On The Edge but its release has been postponed until he’s well enough to support it.

He’s due to undergo a month of radiotherapy and hormone medication, but he hopes to be back in action in early 2014.
