The Who Announce Retirement Plans
Pete Townshend has announced that the Who will be playing their final world tour in 2015, to mark the band’s 50th anniversary.
Speaking to the Evening Standard (via Classic Rock), Townshend revealed that the final tour will give the band the opportunity to visit some places that they haven’t been to before: “For the 50th anniversary we’ll tour the world. It’ll be the last big one for us. There are still plenty of places we’ve not played. It would be good to go to Eastern Europe and places that haven’t heard us play all the old hits.”
According to the Evening Standard, both Roger Daltrey and Townshend, will be pursuing solo projects after the split. The pair have recently been on the 40th anniversary tour of the band’s classic Quadrophenia album, which was originally released in 1973. There has been no announcement yet as to whether the Who plan to record new material before they disband.
