Lemmy Issues Health Update: ‘It Was Nothing. I’m Over It’

Motorhead front man Lemmy Kilmister has been speaking to Classic Rock magazine about his recent health scare. In typically unrepentant style, Lemmy simply says of his recent hospital stint “It was nothing. I’m over it.”

He insists, in spite of having been recently diagnosed with diabetes and fitted with a defibrillator. “I can still stand at that mic every night and play my songs. I’m getting better. By the time the tour comes around I’ll be ready.”

It would seem that drummer Mikkey Dee doesn’t share Lemmy’s optimism, noting that he has concerns about the damage that the Motorhead main man might be doing to himself: “I think after all he’s been through, I’d say this: ‘Lem, when are you going to get sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? it’s time you started to take care of yourself.'”

However, he might have hard time getting through to his band leader, given Lemmy’s statement that “[he doesn’t] like people telling [him] what to do – even if they might be right.” Lemmy also noted that if the band is forced to retire from the road, they would still plan to go on recording: “Maybe we’ll just make albums – we’ll be like the Beatles after 1966.”
