Mercury Tracks Could Become Queen Album

Queen guitarist Brian May says there’s a chance of releasing one more album with material recorded by late frontman Freddie Mercury.

In 2011 drummer Roger Taylor said they’d abandoned plans for a full-length record, saying it would be a “barrel-scraping exercise.” At the time he speculated there could be two singles in the future.

But May suggests things have changed. Speaking at the recent Freddie For A Day charity event, the guitarist tells iHeart Radio: “We thought we’d exhausted everything that was around and could be worked on, but since then a number of things have come to light from various sources that we’d just plain forgotten about.

“Just a couple of weeks ago, we thought: Maybe we shouldn’t be just working on bits and pieces? Maybe we should be heading towards an album? It just might be.”

In 1995 Queen released fifteenth album Made In Heaven featuring vocal and piano parts Mercury had tracked before his death four years earlier. It was the last time all four original members were heard on record, with bassist John Deacon retiring in 1997.
