Guitarist Aziz Ibrahim Wows Crowds In Meldreth
A former Simply Red and Stone Roses guitarist “blew” the audience away at an intimate performance in Meldreth.
Aziz Ibrahim, the BBC introducing masterclass guitar hero of 2012, delivered the concert in the picturesque setting of a garden orchard last weekend.
The impressive event, complete with a three course meal including a tasty Paella cooked on site, came about after two music fans met in a pub and professed their adoration for the talented musician.
Aziz has graced the stage at Glastonbury, wrote three of the songs on Paul Weller’s Sonik Kicks album, continues to write for Ian Brown, and is now part of a two-piece Asian Blues band named ‘Aziz’ – after joining forces with tabla maestro Dalbir Singh Rattan.
Emma Rule, from Meldreth, who organised the event said: “It was absolutely incredible, Aziz really put on a brilliant show.
“He was a huge star to have come to our village. He is an extremely credible artist. He absolutely blew everyone away.”
Around 100 guests were lucky enough to enjoy the show, which also raised funds for the Alzeimers Association.
Emma added: “It was a complete one off which came about after I met Nick Davis in a pub and we chatted about our love for music.
“Then I said I knew Aziz and it went from there and Nick offered to host the concert in a marquee in his garden.
“It was one of the best nights ever in Meldreth. I am hoping Aziz will come back next year as he loved it.”
Aziz described the crowd as “friendly and welcoming.”
