Rob Zombie Complains About Noise From Skate Park

Rob Zombie can usually handle the shred, but a skate park near his Connecticut home is proving too much. The rocker and his wife, Sheri, have complained to the town of Woodbury that the park creates excessive noise, according to The Associated Press. The park opened in April near the Zombies’ house after two decades of planning; it cost $53,000, covered by both the town and fundraising by children and parents.

The Zombies were the first to complain about the park, though two other neighbors have since voiced similar opinions. Sheri Zombie inquired about potential funds for a move at a town budget meeting in June, claiming the park “proved to be a significant noise pollutant” that lowered the quality of life for the surrounding area.

Woodbury First Selectman Gerald Stomski said the town is currently trying to limit the noise at the park with measures such as enclosing the sides of ramps and lining the fence with soundproofing fabric. They’re looking into relocating the park, and have also reduced the facility’s operating hours, closing it on Sundays.

Stomski also noted they’re treating the Zombies’ concerns as they would any other citizen’s. “We do know the Zombies, on a side note, and they are just normal people like anyone else in our town,” he said.

Zombie responded on Facebook to claims that he’s killing the fun for the kids. “Some really crazy articles have popped up making claims about ‘hating skaters’ and ‘hating children.’ None of this is true and it makes me sick that someone would print such lies,” Zombie wrote. “There is a simple matter going on in which we are trying to find a solution that will make EVERYBODY happy. Unfortunately someone decided to turn it into a whole ugly event. What a bummer.”

Zombie has had a busy 2013, releasing his latest album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor in April. His horror film The Lords of Salem also saw a limited release that month.
