Police Probe Guns N’ Roses Guitarist Proposal

Las Vegas police are investigating whether staff went too far after reportedly helping a Guns N Roses guitarist with an elaborate proposal.

Daren Jay “DJ” Ashba – who joined the iconic band in 2009 – got engaged to his girlfriend Nathalia Henao and posted an image of the two of them wearing helicopter headgear on Instagram last Saturday.

He thanked the Las Vegas police department for “the most amazing helicopter private tour” of the city which he tweeted ended in a field at police headquarters where he proposed amid “a table set up covered in roses n a bottle of the bubble stuff”.

The star tweeted: “That was the most incredible day of our life!! Special thx to the Las Vegas Police Dept.”

He added: “it was beautiful she didn’t expect a thing, it was magical.”

Ashba also revealed the news on Facebook, declaring: “She said Yes!!”

He posted a photograph of the newly-engaged couple holding hands to show off the ring adding: “We can’t thank you all enough for the beautiful love and support that you show us! much love!!”

Las Vegas police issued a statement acknowledging two civilians were granted a ride in a helicopter, but did not mention names.

Spokesman Bill Cassell said an internal investigation was under way to determine whether the ride breached policy.

The cash-strapped department has been seeking to raise the sales tax to hire new officers.

Ashba replaced Robin Finck as the lead guitarist of Guns N Roses who left to rejoin Nine Inch Nails.

He toured with Axl Rose-led band on their Chinese Democracy Tour and recently played with them in Australia.

Ashba is also one third of Sixx: A.M., the band he founded with Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, and has founded a design agency.
