Corey Taylor Robbed Of Music Equipment
Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor reported a theft of music gear on Sunday, with the total worth of stolen goods exceeding $36,000.
Taylor himself revealed his unnamed friend as the culprit, saying to the police that the stolen equipment also included two Paul Gray signature bass guitars.
Although the initial Des Moines Register report noted that the two instruments belonged to the late bassist, the singer denied such claims via his Twitter account, saying that the “basses stolen were not Paul’s personal basses. They were Paul Gray Signature basses from Ibanez.”
The theft occurred while Taylor was in Europe with his wife on a month-long tour. The culprit was revealed as he sold some of the stolen gear to the local guitar store. Part of it was already returned, as the store manager is reportedly trying to track down the rest of the gear.
As the report states, it was Taylor’s wife who first suspected that her husband was robbed, as another friend also became suspicious after hearing the alleged thief trying to buy some of the instruments back from the store.
According to Lt. Jim Barrett of the West Des Moines Police Department, no charges had yet been made as of Monday afternoon.
