Machine Head Introduce New Bassist

US metallers Machine Head have officially introduced Jared MacEachern as their new bassist and a replacement for longtime bassist Adam Duce.

MacEachern previously fronted the band called Sanctity, with whom he had already toured with Machine Head and released an album titled “Road to Bloodshed” via Roadrunner Records in 2007.

It is with great pride and excitement that Machine Head announce Jared MacEachern as their new bass player,” stated the band via official website. “Jared has already begun rehearsals for the upcoming Rockstar Mayhem US summer festival tour and will soon relocate from North Carolina to Northern California to begin pre-production for Machine Head’s upcoming eight studio release.”

The band kicked off the bassist auditions immediately after the split with Duce during late February. Prior to getting the gig, MacEachern was singled out as one of the top eight candidates.

“There were dozens of amazing players, and it was interesting to watch each one take on our tunes,” said guitarist Phil Demmel. “One of our biggest criteria for this gig was to be able to sing the high harmonies. That was our litmus test. And Jared passed with flying colors.”

MacEachern gave a few comments regarding his musical background and the way he got into the world of metal, saying, “I heard the [Metallica] song ‘Unforgiven’ and really liked it. The next day my friend gave me ‘Kill ‘Em All’ and it was over. I became completely enamored with all the metal bands of that time; Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Pantera, but when it came to bass, it was all about Cliff Burton, he was, and is my dude.”

The bassist concluded on an enthusiastic note, saying, “I’m ready to get to work! This tour is going to kick ass and the new tunes are heavy as sh-t! I’m so looking forward to making good music with good dudes!”
