Bruce Springsteen Working On New Album

Bruce Spingsteen has started work on the follow-up album to last year’s Wrecking Ball. And the work includes collaboration with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, alongside the E Street Band.

Springsteen, who’s midway through a tour of the UK and Ireland, says the project started out with a novelty for him as they hit the studio while they were on the road in Australia earlier this year. Morello was standing in for guitarist Nils Lofgren.

He tells Rolling Stone: “We’ve never had a recording session during a tour in our lives. We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down, so that was very exciting.

“Being with Tommy was exciting. The band continues to be a source of inspiration for me.”

Springsteen hasn’t yet completed writing duties. “I have stuff I’m working on that I’m very happy about,” he reports. “I have a lot of material – I still feel like I’m in the middle of the well.”

And he’s loving every minute of the band’s new lease of life: “This has been a tremendously rewarding period of our time together – the best ten, twelve years we’ve ever had.”

Last week the Boss performed classic album Born To Run in full in Coventry as a tribute to The Sopranos star James Gandolfini, who died suddenly of a heart attack. Previously he delivered Darkness At The Edge Of Town in full during a Wembley Stadium show.
