Songwriter Noel Gallagher picked up an award for “Outstanding song Collection”
The award was presented to him by Kinks singer Ray Davies. Gallagher then thanked “my publishers, who I’ve only just met after 20 years – Sony, apparently,” causing the audience to break out into laughter.
He dedicated the award to his wife, who, he said, once told him she’d never seen him write any songs. “This is proof that I do,” the musician replied.
When questioned on the red carpet as to why he wanted to attend the ceremony, Gallagher stated that it was “Because they don’t let clowns like One Direction in, so it must be a good one.”
