Microsoft Co-Founder Releases Rock Album
Renowned philanthropist and co-founder of computing giant Microsoft, Paul Allen, is clearly a man of many talents, as he is currently preparing to release a debut album “Everywhere at Once” with his rock band the Underthinkers.
Described as a “13-song program of blues-based guitar rock nuggets,” the record features special guest appearances from members of Heart and the Eagles, as well as Allen demonstrating his guitar skills.
The album will drop on August 6 via Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, with all proceeds set to be donated to charitable organization EMP Museum, Wcax reports. As far as the specific guest names go, the list includes Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Chrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh of the Eagles, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, Ivan Neville and others.
Interestingly enough, the band came to label’s attention through company’s longtime relationship with rock veterans Heart. As far as the music itself goes, all tracks on the album were either written or co-written by Allen.
“I’ve rarely gone a week without picking up a guitar,” Allen wrote in his New York Times best-selling memoir “Idea Man.” “It’s more than a hobby; it gives me balance and keeps me in the moment, which can be a challenge with all the projects I’m pursuing at any one time … I take music with me wherever I go.
“I’m still moved by the power of live music, and I seek it out every chance I get.”
Apart from music and technology, the 53rd-richest person in the world is also involved in the sports world, as he is the owner of two professional sports teams, the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL and the Portland Trail Blazers of the NBA.
