Former Metallica bass player Jason Newsted was knocked off stage by a fan during his new solo band Newsted’s concert in New York City on Tuesday night (May 21st).
The band was performing the Metallica classic “Whiplash” when the incident happened, according to Metal Insider and Newsted jumped back on stage and told the audience, “You know, no matter how many shows I’ve done, that just happened for the first time. …I trust my brothers here to take care of it. Anyone get a good look at that motherf**ker? Don’t kill him, just bruise him up a bit.”
A fan at the show captured the incident on video and uploaded the video online on Wednesday with the following details: “Last night at the show in NYC, some douchebag had the bright idea to jump into the audience while knocking Jason into the crowd and onto the floor. He stopped briefly because it looked like he was shaken up for a few seconds, but went back into the song as a true badass.
“After the show, I had the privilege to meet him and he said he was okay. I showed him the vid as well as the bandmates, and Jason said ‘Put it on YouTube.’ I have his approval… lol.”
