Yoko Ono has reignited the gun control debate by posting a controversial picture of John Lennon’s blood-stained glasses.
The image shows the glasses Lennon was wearing when he was shot by gunman Mark Chapman 33 years ago, alongside the following statistic:
“Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA since John Lennon was shot and killed on 8 Dec 1980.”
Gun control in the US has been a hot topic again since the tragic shootings in Sandy Hook, Aurora and other locations in 2012. At one point, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine accused President Obama of staging the shootings to prompt a gun control debate.
Ono posted further messages describing her grief at losing her husband.
“The death of a loved one is a hollowing experience. After 33 years our son Sean and I still miss him,” said one.
Another read: “31,537 people are killed by guns in the USA every year. We are turning this beautiful country into war zone.”
It’s not the first time Ono has revealed the image of the late Beatles’ blood-stained glasses. It first appeared on her 1981 album “Season Of Glass”.
