Matt Bellamy Didn’t Want To Be A Rock Star

Muse rocker Matt Bellamy didn’t have any dream to be a rock star’ in his youth. The 34-year-old musician and his band Muse have reached incredible international success.

Matt plays guitar and is highly lauded for his skills on the instrument. According to British newspaper The Sun, he never had any idea that he would be associated with his current genre of music.

‘When I was younger, my dream was always to be in music, but I didn’t have any dream to be a rock star,’ Matt said. ‘I wanted to be in a classical band or a jazz band. ‘So when I started, I wanted to learn the jazz piano, or maybe the clarinet.’

Matt’s Grammy-nominated band Muse has sold over 15 million records worldwide.

He has spoken previously about his shock over having their tune Survival chosen as the 2012 London Olympics’ official track.

“Now it’s all over, we can say that the song was really written more about survivalists,” he laughed while picking up a Q Award last November.

“There was this TV show called [Doomsday] Preppers, which was all about these crazy survivalists who think the world is gonna end. The song is basically about that. So I was just making a comment that I was as surprised as everybody else was, that the song got selected for the Olympics.”
