Olympic Stadium To Be Used For Rock Concerts

The Olympic Stadium in east London could be used to stage major concerts next summer., according to the BBC.

Hyde Park will no longer be allowed to hold as many summer gigs under new rules, which follow complaints from local residents. Last year Westminster Council reduced the number of concerts to be held there. In previous years, the limit was 13, now that figure has been dropped to 9. The council also cut the capacity from 80,000 to 65,000 or 50,000. Reports suggest the Olympic venue could be used for some of those big shows which may move east from the Park.

Final contracts are yet to be signed, but the Chief Executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation Dennis Hone said “The exciting thing for us is that we have the opportunity to put on some major events in the park – some music events and festivals and an anniversary weekend on 27 and 28 July.”
