Rolling Stones Recruit Bill Wyman And Taylor For London
The Rolling Stones have confirmed rumours that former members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor will join them for their anniversary shows in London next week.
The bassist and guitarist will appear as special guests at the O2 Arena on Sunday, November 25 and Thursday, November 29.
The news will come as a boost for fans who coughed up an average price of £406 for tickets.
Founding bassist Wyman left the Stones in 1992. Taylor spent five years with the band from 1969 and is often credited as the best musician they had in their ranks, appearing on some of the Stones’ most acclaimed albums.
Both men appeared in the band’s documentary movie Crossfire Hurricane, in which Taylor revealed his heroin addiction was one of the reasons he quit. In 2010 he recorded guitar tracks for bonus songs on the re-released of Exile On Main Street.
In addition to the two London shows, the Stones will play three concerts in the US in December. It’s thought a full-scale world tour could follow in 2013.
Earlier this week they launched a free iPhone app, which guitarist Keith Richards described as “part of a rather splendid celebration for us.”
