Mayhem Fest 2013 First Acts Announced

For the past 5 years, the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival has been leading the charge in the touring festival department. Other festivals such as the Maryland Death fest have been going on longer, but none have rivaled the size and intensity of Ozzfest like Mayhem has. With Ozzfest continually being put on hold year after year recently, it’s only a matter of time until The Prince of Darkness hangs up his coat with Ozzfest and lets someone else take the reigns.

With big acts such as Slayer, Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, Rob Zombie and Marylin Manson having been on the bill in years past, the festival is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With both older and established acts mixing with younger and up and coming acts, Mayhem Fest has proven year after year that old heads and newer fans of the genre can come together in celebration of their mutual love of one of the strongest and most enduring art forms in the musical world. Last year saw 3 legends of the genre (Slayer, Anthrax and Motorhead) playing with newer bands such as As I Lay Dying, The Devil Wears Prada, and Asking Alexandria.

Rumors for next year’s lineup have been flying like crazy recently and if you’ve been paying close attention to them, some big names have been getting thrown around. The leading ones are Overkill, Cannibal Corpse, Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, System of A Down, and Rammstein. Kevin Lyman has even been quoted as saying that he’s been trying for the last few years to get Rammstein on the bill but the issue with getting them on has been money. Last year they sacrificed the 2nd side stage to get Slipknot on the bill, so hopefully this is a good sign of things to come for next year.

Two of those rumors have been confirmed on the Facebook page. Those 2 confirmed bands are Lamb Of God, and Hatebreed.
