Yngwie Malmsteen Playing Hendrix With Feel!

OK so Yngwie Malmsteen may not be everyones cup of tea, as we know several of our My Guitar Lessons tutors claim he is their favourite ever guitarist and several more than can not stand the neo-classicals speed licks. However for all you ‘non-Yngwie fans’ here’s an outstanding performance from his 80’s tour where on several occasions he actually holds notes for more than 10 seconds!

OK, so that may sound rather ‘tongue-in-cheek’, however his amazing technique, crossed with his Hendrix and his Blackmore influence coupled with his love of Niccolò Paganini (Italian violinist, violist, guitarist, and composer) really shine through in this track. We first came across Yngwie in the mid 80’s with a band called Alcatraz, which Steve Vai also played for, and we knew he was a special talent then, but what we really love is when he slowes it down and plays some blusey licks from the heart which is totally outstanding.
