Funniest Live BBC Rock Performance Ever?

The craziest piece of rock footage ever? Well it certainly made us scream with laughter here at My Guitar Lessons. Lets set the scene;

Back in the later 70’s early 80’s there was a cult UK TV show called ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ hosted by Bob ‘Whispering’ Harris. It was a live to air music show with all the best bands from the era playing, similar to the current Jools Holland ‘Late’ program.

Now to get a break on here you needed to be the talk of the town, that’s why Bowie, Thin Lizzy and Queen often made appearances on the show. Now a relatively unknown lad from Essex John Otway got his lucky break doing a rendition of one of his songs with guitarist ‘Wild Willie Barrett’. Things were really hotting up and the performance was going great. Then in his infinite wisdom John decides to jump onto Willies amps to really liven the performance up and this happens..

Let just say he certainly livened it up, and became a closet rock superstar in doing so. Johns still touring and is a magnificent performer, so would thoroughly recommend you get yourself along to one of his live performances.
