Killing Joke Frontman Missing Publicity Stunt?
Killing Joke fans are said to be furious after suspecting that frontman Jaz Coleman went “missing” as part of an elaborate publicity stunt.
The band raised concerns for his whereabouts in late July when he disappeared shortly after the dramatic cancellation of a forthcoming tour with The Cult and The Mission. Coleman had allegedly published an offensive message targeting the other bands, to the dismay of his band mates.
However, Colman has now re-surfaced and claims he has been in the Western Sahara to work on a TV show and book.
The style of the post looks like a press release, and has angered some fans who think the whole episode may have been a tasteless publicity stunt.
Comments on his Facebook page range from those who found it amusing to others who were offended after being genuinely concerned for his welfare.
“This is really sh-tty to do to anyone, especially fans like us here who actually thought something tragic happened,” wrote one fan (via Classic Rock). “Not f–king cool at all.”
It continued: “They knew exactly where and what Jaz was doing. Tickets are booked and passports stamped for a Sahara trip. The statement is total bullsh-t. Total insult to us fans.”
