Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Welch was found dead at the age of 66 by his wife Wendy at their Nashville home on Thursday 7th June with a gunshot wound to his chest.
It has been reported that he committed suicide as he believed that he would never recover from his recent spinal surgery and did not want to be a burden to his family. It was revealed by a police spokesman that Bob Welch had been suffering with ill health but no further elaboration was given on this matter. Bob Welch had seen his father become an invalid and his mother spent many years caring for him. In the suicide note left by Bob Welch he told his wife (Wendy) “I’m not going to do this to you”.
This is the second death to hit the band Fleetwood Mac this year after guitarist Bob Weston died in London at the age of 64 from a gastrointestinal haemorrhage.
